Professor Insu Jeon and Dr. Md. Tariful Islam Mredha of School of Mechanical Engineering at Chonnam National University recently published a paper in the online edition of 'Progress in Materials Science' (Impact Factor: 39.58) that is the most prestigious journal in the field of materials science.
The paper provides various contents related to anisotropic hydrogels, which have been recently attracting a lot of attention for realization of biomaterials, flexible electric devices, and soft robots.
They have been conducted researches on the development of various isotropic and anisotropic hydrogels since 2016, and have published a number of papers in renowned international journals.
By introducing their research results so far and comparing their results with those of other published papers, this paper is evaluated to provide the guidelines for developing new functional hydrogels.
In addition, the paper is expected to be helpful in development of new soft materials for realizing flexible devices and systems with more robust properties under the global atmospheric environment.
The first author, Dr. Md. Tariful Islam Mredha is currently working as a Brain pool fellow supported by NRF, Korea. He received his Ph.D. in Life Science from Hokkaido University, Japan, in 2016 under the supervision of a pioneering hydrogel scientist, Prof. Jian Ping Gong. His current research focuses on the design and fabrication of biomimetic multifunctional hydrogels and their emerging next-generation applications.
This work was supported by the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) grants funded by the Korea government (MSIT) (Mid-Carrer Researcher Program, Basic Research Laboratory and Brain Pool program).
